PACU RN Job Details

• Location: Burlington, Vermont (05401) – Vermont healthcare jobs
• Assignment Length: Up to 32 weeks (1/12/2026 – 5/4/2026)
• Shift: Day shifts; variable 8/10/12-hour shifts (typical: 3x12-hour days, 07:30–20:00 or 08:00–19:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Setting: Large teaching hospital, high-acuity PACU
• Type: Travel RN, On-Site
• Orientation: Bi-weekly on Mondays

PACU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Vermont nursing license preferred (pending licenses considered)
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 3 years of clinical RN experience; at least 2 years in PACU nursing
• Critical care PACU skills: art lines, titrating drips, cardiac monitoring
• Recent Epic EMR experience (within 2 years)
• Experience in large teaching hospital or academic medical center
• Travel RN experience required (no first-time travelers)
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions for Flu only)
• Reliable personal or rental vehicle required (public transportation not accessible; snow tires recommended November–April)

PACU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality post-anesthesia care to diverse patient populations in a high-acuity PACU
• Monitor and manage patients with critical care needs, including art lines, titrating drips, and cardiac monitoring
• Float to other units and participate in weekend/call rotations as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently using Epic EMR
• Adapt to variable day/evening shifts and provide coverage for holidays and weekends
