Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Location: Lynchburg, VA 24501 (Virginia healthcare jobs)
• Unit: Cardiac Intermediate Care Unit (CIMU)
• Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse Contract
• Start Dates: 1/12/2026 or 1/26/2026 (every other Monday)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts
• Hours per Week: 36
• Float Requirement: No

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license in Virginia or compact state (required for Virginia nursing jobs)
• Minimum 2 years of recent cardiac stepdown or intermediate care nursing experience
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (current and valid)
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR preferred
• Ability to provide work history, explain employment gaps over 90 days, and submit a skills checklist
• All requested time off must be submitted at time of application

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care to cardiac stepdown patients with varying acuity levels
• Operate and manage clinical equipment: vital signs machines, glucometers, SCDs, bladder scanners, vein finders, remote telemetry, wound vacs, IV pumps, pulse oximeters, chest tubes, tube feeding pumps, and oxygen delivery devices
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams in a teaching hospital setting, supporting students and new hires
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently using Cerner EMR
• Maintain a positive and supportive culture, contributing to education and mentorship
• Adhere to facility policies, infection control, and safety standards
