Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Indiana or compact state
• BLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
• ACLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
• Minimum of 1 year recent bedside clinical experience in Med/Surg nursing (2 years preferred)
• Strong assessment, documentation, and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized care plans for medical-surgical patients
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while ensuring patient and staff safety
• Supervise and provide direction to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and new staff
• Accurately document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic medical record
• Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and interdisciplinary team conferences
• Initiate discharge planning and provide patient/family education from admission
• Promote a safe work environment by adhering to hospital safety policies and procedures
• Foster a positive team culture and contribute to unit collaboration
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities as needed after orientation
• Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education
