Registered Nurse Qualifications

  • Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU), step-down, or acute care nursing job
  • BLS certification (American Heart Association)
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced healthcare environment

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care to PCU patients, monitoring and responding to changes in patient condition
  • Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary healthcare teams, and clinical support staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Administer medications, manage IVs, and perform nursing procedures according to unit protocols
  • Document patient care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Educate patients and families on care plans, treatments, and post-discharge instructions
  • Participate in unit meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and ongoing professional development
