Travel Nursing Job Details

• Location: Lynchburg, VA 24501 (Virginia nursing jobs)
• Unit: Cardiac Stepdown / Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU)
• Assignment Type: Travel RN Contract
• Start Dates: January 12, 2026 or January 26, 2026
• Assignment Length: 13-week contract (option to extend up to 16 weeks)
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts
• Hours per Week: 36 or 48 hours available
• On-Site Position

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Cardiac Stepdown RN experience (prior travel nursing experience required)
• Active Virginia or Compact RN license (required at start)
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (all current)
• Complete work history with explanations for any gaps over 90 days
• Skills checklist and copy of nursing license required for submission
• Ability to work 2 of 3 winter holidays (Christmas holiday RTO not approved)
• Charge nurse experience and Cerner EMR experience preferred
• Comfortable working in a teaching hospital and mentoring students/new hires
• Local candidates within 60 miles are not eligible

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to med-surg, telemetry, cardiac IMCU, neuro, and CVA patients
• Monitor, assess, and document patient status; administer medications and perform interventions
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans
• Mentor and support students and new hires in a teaching hospital setting
• Accurately document patient care using Cerner EMR (preferred)
• Comply with hospital policies, procedures, and infection control standards
• Participate in orientation and ongoing clinical training
