• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night Shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Population: Neonates and infants
• Unit Size: 49 beds, average daily census ~40

NICU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent NICU RN experience in a Level III/IV NICU
• Active Massachusetts RN license (required prior to start)
• BLS and NRP certifications required; NRP Advanced and Infant Driven Feeding Training preferred
• Proficiency with Epic charting system
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• Must pass Telemetry exam during orientation (score of 80% or higher)
• Completion of pre-start and orientation modules as assigned

NICU RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate care to neonates and infants in a Level III/IV NICU
• Monitor, assess, and document patient status and progress using Epic EHR
• Administer medications, blood products, and specialized therapies (high-frequency ventilation, nitric oxide, therapeutic hypothermia)
• Perform and assist with procedures: arterial line management, central line care, lumbar puncture, feeding tube placement
• Educate and support families regarding patient care and progress
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (respiratory therapy, radiology, social services)
• Maintain strict infection control and isolation protocols
• Participate in pre- and post-operative care for neonates with surgical interventions
