- Shift: Night Shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Population: Neonates and infants
- Unit Size: 49 beds, average daily census ~40
NICU Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent NICU RN experience in a Level III/IV NICU
- Active Massachusetts RN license (required prior to start)
- BLS and NRP certifications required; NRP Advanced and Infant Driven Feeding Training preferred
- Proficiency with Epic charting system
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
- Must pass Telemetry exam during orientation (score of 80% or higher)
- Completion of pre-start and orientation modules as assigned
NICU RN Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, compassionate care to neonates and infants in a Level III/IV NICU
- Monitor, assess, and document patient status and progress using Epic EHR
- Administer medications, blood products, and specialized therapies (high-frequency ventilation, nitric oxide, therapeutic hypothermia)
- Perform and assist with procedures: arterial line management, central line care, lumbar puncture, feeding tube placement
- Educate and support families regarding patient care and progress
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (respiratory therapy, radiology, social services)
- Maintain strict infection control and isolation protocols
- Participate in pre- and post-operative care for neonates with surgical interventions
