Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

- Healthcare Setting: Cardiac Stepdown / Telemetry Unit (SE7 CARDIAC TELEMETRY UNIT CTU)
- Nursing Shift: 12-hour nights (19:00 – 07:30), 4 shifts per week
- Hours per Week: 36

Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 1.5 years of recent Stepdown (SD) or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) RN experience (ICU experience does not substitute)
- Active Registered Nurse license (any state or compact license accepted)
- EPIC charting experience required
- Must pass online EKG/telemetry competency assessment prior to start
- BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
- Proficient in IV starts and management
- Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips
- Experience with 1:5 patient ratio in SD/PCU settings must be reflected in your application
- Travel nursing experience preferred
- Ability to work every other weekend and holiday as scheduled
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted); COVID-19 vaccine not required
- Must be fitted for N95 mask prior to working on HRRU unit (unless PAPR is needed)
Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to cardiac stepdown patients, including those with heart failure, chest pain, NSTEMI, post-procedure, COPD exacerbation, and substance withdrawal
- Competently run and titrate IV drips (heparin, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, Cardizem, insulin, etc.)
- Interpret and manage cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmias
- Start and maintain IVs, manage feeding tubes, and provide advanced respiratory support (including HFNC)
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response
- Float to other hospital units as needed, supporting specialty clusters and providing medically appropriate care
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all hospital policies and procedures
- Participate in orientation and complete required modules and assessments within specified timelines
