We are hiring an experienced Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (PICU RN) for a 13-week travel nursing assignment in a nationally ranked 23-bed Cardiac ICU (CVPICU). This Indianapolis healthcare job offers the chance to care for complex pediatric cardiac patients, including those with ventricular assist devices (VADs) and heart transplants, while working alongside a leading multidisciplinary healthcare team.

• Location: Indianapolis, IN 46202 – Explore the vibrant downtown area, renowned for its arts, dining, and parks.
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: January 12, 2026 – End: April 13, 2026)
• Shift: Night shift, 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 3x12 or 4x12 per week; every other weekend required
• Healthcare Setting: 23-bed Cardiac ICU (CVPICU), with floating to cardiac stepdown unit and PICU
• Patient Population: Neonates, infants, children, adolescents, and adults with congenital heart conditions

PICU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent PICU RN experience (CVPICU training available for qualified candidates)
• Active Registered Nurse license (Indiana, compact, or IN temporary license required by start date)
• BLS and PALS certifications (American Heart Association preferred)
• Clinical proficiency in telemetry, ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with post-cardiac surgery care, VAD, and heart transplant patients preferred
• Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Two supervisor references required
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Willingness to float to related units as needed

PICU RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to critically ill pediatric cardiac patients
• Monitor and manage complex cardiac and post-surgical patients, including VAD and heart transplant cases
• Assist with chest tube maintenance, acute airway management, and tracheostomy care
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and hemodynamic instability
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy
• Float as needed to cardiac stepdown unit and PICU
• Maintain accurate documentation and uphold patient safety standards
• Work every other weekend and participate in holiday coverage as required
