Registered Nurse Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (North Carolina or compact state)
  • BLS Certification (required before first shift)
  • ACLS Certification (required before first shift)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent bedside clinical experience in a Med/Surg unit (2 years preferred)
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and clinical support skills
  • Ability to work night shifts and thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized patient care plans
  • Deliver direct patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Accurately document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes
  • Supervise and mentor Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and new staff
  • Ensure patient and employee safety by following hospital policies and procedures
  • Initiate discharge planning and provide patient education from admission
  • Participate in team meetings and foster a positive Med/Surg unit culture
  • Maintain open communication with physicians, charge nurses, and other healthcare providers
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education
