Med/Surg RN Job Details

Location: Lynchburg, VA 24501
Assignment Type: Travel Nursing Job
Unit: Clinical Observation Unit (Medical-Surgical)
Shift: 12-hour Nights
Hours per Week: 36
Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 1/12/2026, End: 4/13/2026)
Patient Ratios: 1:5/1:6
Weekend Requirement: 2-3 weekends per month based on unit need
Orientation: Every other Monday
Float: Not required

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent experience in Medical-Surgical nursing or relevant specialty
Active RN license in Virginia or Compact State (required at time of submission)
BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
Prior travel nursing experience (required)
Cerner EMR experience preferred
All requested time off must be submitted with application
Ability to support and mentor students and new hires in a teaching hospital environment
COVID/Flu vaccine declinations accepted with approved documentation
Local candidates within 60 miles are not eligible

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality patient care in a Med/Surg Clinical Observation Unit
Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions and responses to treatment
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
Administer medications and perform prescribed treatments
Mentor and support students and new hires in a teaching hospital setting
Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner EMR
Comply with hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols
