Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Location: Indianapolis, IN 46123 (Indiana nursing jobs)
• Unit: Medical/Surgical Unit (MS3C)
• Position Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN)
• Start Date: January 28, 2026
• End Date: April 29, 2026
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night shift, 12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30)
• Schedule: 3x12s or 4x12s per week, 36 hours/week
• Patient Population: Adult medical/surgical patients
• Self-scheduling with required weekend coverage

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg RN experience (medical surgical nursing jobs)
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (must be in hand before start date)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• NIHSS certification
• Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Two supervisor references required
• Ability to float to other Med/Surg units and Observation Unit as needed
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted); COVID-19 vaccine not required
• Out-of-state candidates only (local Indiana nurses not accepted for this unit)

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate care to adult medical/surgical patients with diverse diagnoses (dialysis, stroke, heart failure, delirium/dementia, end-of-life, mental health/substance withdrawal)
• Manage and monitor patients with feeding tubes, chest tubes, tracheostomies, and blood administration
• Perform blood product administration, central line blood draws, feeding tube care, heparin administration, HFNC management, peripheral line care, PICC line management, and IV starts/maintenance
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: IV team, physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response teams
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Float to other Med/Surg units or Observation Unit as required
• Participate in self-scheduling and fulfill required weekend shifts
