Telemetry RN Job Details

• Location: West Islip, NY 11795 (Long Island, New York nursing jobs)
• Healthcare Setting: Med Surg/Telemetry (ED/Admissions Unit)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 1/5/2026 – End: 4/6/2026)
• Nursing Shift: Night shifts, 4x12-hour (19:00 – 06:00); some weeks may be 3x12s
• Hours per Week: 36
• Employment Type: Travel RN contract
• Patient Ratios: 1:6 to 1:8, based on acuity
• Orientation: 16 hours

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active New York State Registered Nurse license (must be in hand)
• At least 1 year of recent Med Surg/Telemetry RN experience
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Proficiency with Epic EMR charting system
• Ability to manage patient ratios up to 1:8
• COVID-19 vaccine preferred (medical exemptions considered)
• Required attire: scrubs (all white, all navy, or a combination)
• Two supervisory clinical references required at submission
• First-time travel nurses and local candidates (within 75 miles) welcome

Telemetry RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a fast-paced telemetry/med surg unit
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias; respond to rapid response and code situations
• Perform peripheral line care, oxygen administration (nasal cannula, tanks), and non-invasive airway management
• Implement isolation precautions; manage wound vacs, drains, and braces
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and social services
• Document patient care using Epic EMR system
• Participate in monthly orientation and ongoing clinical training modules
