Travel Nursing Job Details

• Location: West Islip, NY 11795 (Long Island healthcare jobs)
• Unit: Medical/Surgical Telemetry – ED Overflow (1 East Unit)
• Assignment Type: Travel RN contract
• Start Date: January 5, 2026
• End Date: March 2, 2026
• Duration: 8-week nursing contract
• Shifts: Night shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts per week (preference available)
• Hours per Week: 36-48, based on shift selection
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Floating: Required to other units
• Self-scheduling: Available
• Pay Rate: $85.00 per hour

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active New York State RN license (required at submission)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Proficiency with Epic EMR charting system
• Community hospital nursing experience required
• Ability to manage high patient ratios (7:1)
• COVID-19 vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
• Two supervisory clinical references (charge RN references accepted)
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Prior travel nursing assignment preferred but not required

RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a fast-paced ED Overflow unit
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry; respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications, blood products, and manage IV therapies
• Perform procedures including chest tube management, continuous bladder irrigation, and tracheostomy care
• Implement isolation precautions and infection control protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (physical therapy, respiratory, pharmacy, social services)
• Accurately document patient care using Epic EMR
• Float to other nursing units as needed
• Participate in orientation and complete required training modules
