Travel PICU RN Job Details

• Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Population: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults
• Unit Size: 20 beds, average daily census of 13

PICU RN Qualifications

• Current and active Ohio or Compact Registered Nurse (RN) license (required at time of application)
• Minimum 2 years of recent PICU or CVPICU experience in a 30-bed or larger pediatric ICU
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS (American Heart Association preferred)
• Proficient in arterial line management, ventilator management, central/implanted line care, pediatric dosage calculations, and care of ventilated patients
• Ability to provide 2 supervisory references (at least one from a manager or supervisor)
• Willingness to float to NICU, PICU, ED, stepdown, and med-surg units as needed
• Cannot have worked permanent at this facility within the past 2 years
• No local candidates (must reside 60+ miles from facility)

PICU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients with complex cardiac and medical needs
• Monitor and manage patients with congenital heart disease, pre/post-surgical care, heart failure, transplants, and pulmonary hypertension
• Utilize advanced clinical skills including management of arterial lines, chest tubes, ventilators, ventricular assist devices (VADs), and interpretation of ABGs and cardiac dysrhythmias
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response teams
• Float to other critical care and stepdown units as required, adapting to varying patient populations and acuity levels
• Maintain accurate documentation and uphold the highest standards of patient safety and infection control
