Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Washington, DC 20010
- Healthcare Setting: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
- Job Type: Travel RN Contract
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: February 2, 2026
- End Date: May 4, 2026
- Shifts: 12-hour rotating shifts (Day: 07:00 - 19:30, Night: 19:00 - 07:30), 3x12 or 4x12 per week
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required
- Float Requirement: ICU and IMC units
- Patient Ratio: 2:1
- Orientation: 36 hours
CVICU Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU RN experience in an acute care hospital
- Active DC Registered Nurse license (or proof of pending status at submission; must be in hand prior to start)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support) certifications required
- Successful completion of Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam (minimum 80% overall, 100% on lethal rhythms)
- Travel nursing experience preferred
- Ability to float to ICU and IMC units as needed
- Must be able to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- Two supervisor references required
CVICU RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to CVICU patients, including post-cardiac surgery, major vascular surgery, heart failure, and patients on mechanical circulatory support
- Manage and monitor advanced cardiovascular equipment: VAD, Cmag, CRRT, Swan Ganz PA catheters, pacing, IABP, ECMO
- Perform arterial and central line management, assist with chest tube insertion/removal, and administer blood products
- Interpret arterial blood gases, dysrhythmias, and titrate cardiac/vasoactive drips
- Care for ventilated patients and those requiring continuous IV sedation or paralytics
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services
- Maintain strict infection prevention and isolation precautions
- Document patient care accurately using electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Float to ICU and IMC units as required
