Travel Nursing Job Details – Athens, GA
- Location: Athens, Georgia (30606) – Georgia nursing jobs
- Assignment Length: 12 weeks
- Setting: Outpatient Surgery Operating Room (6-bed unit)
- Shift: Day shifts; 4x10-hour (06:00 - 16:30) or flexible 3x12-hour (Wed, Thurs, Fri 5:30am-6:00pm) or 4x10-hour shifts (6:30am-6:00pm)
- Hours per Week: 40
- Patient Population: Pediatrics to Geriatrics
- Unit Systems: Epic (charting), Pyxis (medication management)
- Scrub Color: Provided
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
- Floating: Required to float to main hospital OR as needed
- Call Requirements: Yes
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active GA or Compact RN license (must be in hand at time of submission)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Operating Room RN experience (no first-time travelers)
- BLS certification required
- Travel nursing experience required
- Experience with Epic and Pyxis preferred
- Ability to provide clinical support for diverse patient populations (pediatric to geriatric)
- Must be available to work major holidays during assignment
- Two supervisory references (Manager or above) highly preferred
Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver circulating nursing care for a wide range of surgical procedures (no scrubbing required)
- Support service lines including Dental, ENT, General Surgery, Cataracts, Orthopedics, Plastics, GYN, Pediatrics, Neuro, and Podiatry
- Maintain a 1:1 patient ratio in a 6-bed OR unit with an average daily census of 20
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including Rapid Response, Pharmacy, and Unit Secretary
- Utilize Epic for electronic health record charting and Pyxis for medication management
- Float to main hospital operating room as needed
- Participate in on-call rotation and weekend coverage
- Ensure compliance with all hospital and facility policies and procedures
