• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Days (Mon-Fri 06:45-15:15)
• Call Rotation: 1 week on, 1 week off (minimal call-back; mostly finishing over-run cases)
• Average Weekly Hours: 40
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2030 - $2190
• Unit: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)

Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of recent heart surgical experience in a CVOR setting
• Proficiency in cardiac, vascular, and thoracic procedures (Hearts, VATS, vein harvesting)
• Active BLS certification
• Valid Virginia surgical assistant licensure
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology and Surgical Assistant program
• Certified Surgical First Assistant (SFA) credential required
• Completion of Medical Staff privileging process (application fee; 4-6 weeks)
• Previous clinical experience preferred

Key Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons in cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgeries as a Certified Surgical First Assistant
• Perform patient positioning, retraction, suture tying, dressing application, and skin closure
• Prepare and set up the operating room with required equipment before procedures
• Maintain strict sterile technique throughout all surgical procedures
• Support room turnover and restock surgical supplies
• Collaborate with charge nurse for assignments and serve as a clinical resource
• Maintain current surgical assistant certification
