Radiation Therapist Job Details

• Location: Salem, OR 97301 (Oregon healthcare job)
• Setting: Hospital – Radiation Oncology (Radiation Therapy Unit)
• Assignment Type: Travel Radiation Therapist
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Start Date: ASAP (on or after January 26, 2026)
• Shift: Day shifts, 4x10-hour shifts per week (Monday–Friday, 7:00am–7:00pm)
• Hours per Week: 40
• No call required
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2080–$2230

Qualifications – Radiation Therapist Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of recent Radiation Therapy experience in a hospital or clinical setting
• Valid ARRT National Radiology License (Radiation Therapist)
• Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) State Licensure
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy program
• Experience with Varian TrueBeam or Edge, and Aria preferred
• Familiarity with Linear Accelerators (Varian TrueBeam, Trilogy, Acuity, GE Lightspeed CT preferred)
• Epic charting experience required
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospital environment treating 70–95 patients per day on three treatment machines

Key Responsibilities – Radiation Therapist

• Simulate and administer radiation treatments as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist and directed by the Radiation Physicist and Dosimetrist
• Interpret prescriptions and treatment plans for oncology patients
• Perform patient identification and maintain audio/visual surveillance during radiation therapy
• Accurately position patients for treatment and perform imaging as directed
• Monitor and report patient side effects, behavioral changes, or unusual reactions
• Document treatment positions and field borders using digital photography
• Safely transfer patients using proper body mechanics and transfer techniques
• Perform simple RadCalc calculations for emergency treatments
• Construct quality immobilization devices and accurately tattoo patients as appropriate
• Participate in daily chart rounds and complete Aria chart checks per department policy
• Perform weekly block room cleaning and HEPA filter checks
• Fabricate custom blocks and coordinate simulation with the clinic to support continuity of care
