Radiation Therapist Job Details
- Location: Salem, OR 97301 (Oregon healthcare job)
- Setting: Hospital – Radiation Oncology (Radiation Therapy Unit)
- Assignment Type: Travel Radiation Therapist
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Start Date: ASAP (on or after January 26, 2026)
- Shift: Day shifts, 4x10-hour shifts per week (Monday–Friday, 7:00am–7:00pm)
- Hours per Week: 40
- No call required
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2080–$2230
Qualifications – Radiation Therapist Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of recent Radiation Therapy experience in a hospital or clinical setting
- Valid ARRT National Radiology License (Radiation Therapist)
- Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) State Licensure
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy program
- Experience with Varian TrueBeam or Edge, and Aria preferred
- Familiarity with Linear Accelerators (Varian TrueBeam, Trilogy, Acuity, GE Lightspeed CT preferred)
- Epic charting experience required
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospital environment treating 70–95 patients per day on three treatment machines
Key Responsibilities – Radiation Therapist
- Simulate and administer radiation treatments as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist and directed by the Radiation Physicist and Dosimetrist
- Interpret prescriptions and treatment plans for oncology patients
- Perform patient identification and maintain audio/visual surveillance during radiation therapy
- Accurately position patients for treatment and perform imaging as directed
- Monitor and report patient side effects, behavioral changes, or unusual reactions
- Document treatment positions and field borders using digital photography
- Safely transfer patients using proper body mechanics and transfer techniques
- Perform simple RadCalc calculations for emergency treatments
- Construct quality immobilization devices and accurately tattoo patients as appropriate
- Participate in daily chart rounds and complete Aria chart checks per department policy
- Perform weekly block room cleaning and HEPA filter checks
- Fabricate custom blocks and coordinate simulation with the clinic to support continuity of care
