- Hourly Pay Rate: $0/hr
- Shift: Days (07:00–17:30)
- Shift Duration: 10-hour days
- Schedule: 4x10s (40 hours/week)
- Weekend Requirement: Weekend call coverage only
- On-Call: Required; 1 week at a time rotating with the team (currently about 1 week every 6 weeks)
- Floating: Yes, may float to other OR specialties when CVOR volume is low
- Patient Population: Adults
- Charting System: Epic (preferred)
CVOR RN Requirements (Travel)
- Experience: 3 years of recent CVOR RN experience required (first-time travelers welcome)
- License: Active Michigan RN license required by start date (compact license not accepted)
- Certifications: BLS required (AHA preferred)
- Preferred: Trauma Level I experience; Epic EMR experience
- Required Work Settings: CVOR, General OR, Hybrid OR, Trauma
- Education: Ability to provide proof of high school-level education (required)
Key Responsibilities – Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
- Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care for adult cardiovascular and thoracic surgical patients in the CVOR.
- Circulate and/or scrub (as applicable) for complex cases such as CABG, valve procedures, TAVR, thoracotomy/VATS, and other cardiothoracic/vascular procedures.
- Maintain sterile technique and adhere to infection prevention standards, Universal Protocol, and time-out procedures.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, perfusion, and the interdisciplinary OR team to support efficient case flow and excellent patient outcomes.
- Operate and support specialized CVOR equipment and workflows as needed (e.g., cell saver, cardiac monitoring, blood product administration per policy).
- Document intraoperative care accurately and timely in the EMR (Epic preferred) according to site standards.
- Participate in the rotating on-call schedule, including weekend call coverage as assigned.
- Float to other OR specialties when needed based on case volume and staffing.
