- Shift: Day Shift, 4x10-Hour Days (06:30 - 17:00)
- Hours per Week: 40
- Weekend Call: Up to 1 weekend of call per six-week schedule (Sat & Sun 06:30 - 15:00)
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1890 - $2030

Qualifications – Surgical First Assist Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a Surgical First Assist or OR Tech in acute inpatient and outpatient operating room settings
- Active DC State Surgical First Assist License (required upon application)
- BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) – required
- Certification by ARC-ST, AST, ACS, SASA, or CAAHEP (CHEA)
- Experience with Cerner charting system preferred
- Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
- First-time travelers accepted with unit approval
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- Two supervisor references required
Responsibilities – OR Tech Surgical First Assist
- Provide surgical first assist support for diverse cases: bariatrics, orthopedics (spine, total joints, ankle fusion), robotics, thoracic, trauma, urology, and endocrine surgery
- Operate advanced surgical technology including Da Vinci Si/SP/Xi, Mako Surgical System, and electrosurgical units
- Perform essential first assist duties: tissue manipulation, vessel clamping/cauterization, wound closure (muscle and fascia), tourniquet application, securing drainage systems, sponge counting, and wound dressing
- Maintain strict aseptic technique and adhere to isolation precautions
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, PT, RT, radiology, pharmacy, and more)
- Support adult and geriatric patient care in a high-volume operating room (50-100 cases daily, 23 rooms)
- Participate in orientation and complete required modules within specified timeframes
