Trauma Surgery Physician Assistant Job Details

• Setting: Level I Trauma Center (adult and pediatric trauma care)

• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shifts: 10-hour day shifts (7am–5pm)
• Hours per Week: 40
• Openings: 2 Physician Assistant positions
• EMR: Epic
• Call: No call; in-house only
• Reimbursement: Mileage reimbursed for local providers
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $3,870 - $4,590

Physician Assistant Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Physician Assistant in an inpatient setting (trauma, ICU, or orthopedics preferred)
• Board Certified PA-C (Physician Assistant-Certified)
• Active Minnesota Physician Assistant license required
• Certifications: ATLS, ACLS, PALS
• DEA (verbal confirmation required at time of submission)
• Self-Query NPDB report (within the same month as submission)
• Ability to work independently with trauma surgeon backup available 24/7

Trauma Surgery Physician Assistant Responsibilities

• Daily rounding and management of trauma patients (adults and adolescents)
• Respond to emergency department trauma alerts and facilitate ER admissions
• Coordinate and facilitate patient discharges
• Perform procedures (preferred but not all required): Non-invasive vent management (BiPAP/CPAP), ventilation management, chest tube insertion, central line, arterial line, suturing minor lacerations
• Track and document patient care per hospital guidelines
• Collaborate with trauma surgeons and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
