Travel Operating Room RN in Charleston, WV — 13-week travel nurse contract at a leading pediatric and women's hospital.   • Position: Travel Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) – Pediatric & Women's Surgery
  • Location: Charleston, WV 25302 (Charleston nursing jobs; travel nurse jobs Charleston WV)
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks (April 2, 2026 – July 2, 2026)
  • Shift: Days, 5x8-hour shifts (06:45 – 15:15)
  • Hours: 40 hours/week guaranteed
  • Unit: 6-bed Operating Room Unit (Pediatric patients: Newborn – 17 years)
  • On-Call: Required (self-scheduled weeknights and weekends, rotating)
  • Orientation: 16 hours
  • Charting / EMR: Cerner (preferred)
  • Scrub Color: Bright Blue
  • Parking: Free on-site for travelers
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,870 – $1,970 (competitive travel nurse pay)

Minimum Qualifications / Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years RN experience, including at least 2 years recent Operating Room (OR) RN experience (perioperative nurse / surgical nurse)
  • Travel RN experience required (no first-time travelers)
  • Active West Virginia RN license or Compact RN license (pending acceptable; must be active by start date)
  • Current BLS (American Heart Association)
  • Required clinical skills: Pediatric General OR, General OR, Scrub and Circulate
  • Preferred skills: IV start, pediatric and women's specialty experience, exposure to robotic surgery workflows
  • Minimum 2 manager/charge references from the past 2 years
  • Permanent address must be at least 75 miles from facility (100+ miles preferred) — standard travel nurse distance requirement
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, high-quality perioperative care for pediatric and adolescent surgical patients (newborn to 17 years)
  • Perform both scrub and circulating duties across a wide range of pediatric and women's surgical procedures
  • Maintain infection control, laser and radiation safety, and compliance with Universal Protocol
  • Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams including IV, respiratory, radiology, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response
  • Ensure accurate specimen handling and complete documentation in Cerner EMR
  • Assist with equipment setup, troubleshooting, and support specialty and robotic surgery workflows as needed
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for weeknights and weekends
  • Contribute to a collaborative, patient-centered environment in a major teaching hospital and Level I Pediatric Trauma Center
