Labor & Delivery RN Requirements

• Clinical Readiness: Ability to work in an acute-care Labor & Delivery (L&D) setting supporting labor, delivery, recovery, and immediate postpartum care
• License: Active RN license (must be able to submit/verify)
• Education: BSN required
• Certifications: BLS, Intermediate Fetal Monitoring, NRP, PALS
• Schedule Flexibility: Ability to work rotating day/night 12-hour shifts

Key Responsibilities (L&D / Postpartum Nursing)

• Provide evidence-based nursing care across labor, delivery, recovery, and immediate postpartum in an acute-care Labor & Delivery (L&D) unit.
• Perform maternal and fetal assessments, including fetal heart rate monitoring and interpretation; identify changes in patient condition and escalate per protocol.
• Support obstetric interventions and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.
• Educate and support patients and families throughout the birth experience, including postpartum recovery and newborn care basics.
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and efficiently in Allscripts EMR.
