Travel RN Job Details – Kalamazoo, MI
- Location: Kalamazoo, MI 49007 (Michigan healthcare jobs)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 2/23/2026 – End: 5/25/2026)
- Clinical Setting: Cardiac Stepdown / Oncology – General Medical Unit (GMU)
- Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (19:00 – 07:30)
- Total Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required
- Floating: May float to other med/surg units, including AU and ER
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4-6
- Support: Charge RN, interdisciplinary healthcare teams, and support staff
- Scheduling: Block scheduling may be available; self-scheduling for non-weekend shifts
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Michigan RN license (required for Michigan nursing jobs)
- Minimum 1 year of recent PCU/Stepdown RN experience (2 years preferred)
- BLS (AHA) certification
- NIHSS certification
- ONCC or ONS certification (must be in hand)
- Experience with Epic charting system preferred
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions accepted)
- Must be available for the first two weeks of assignment
- Professional references required
Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, oncology, and general medical diagnoses (e.g., sepsis, renal failure, respiratory failure, heart failure, DKA, diabetes)
- Administer IV chemotherapy and initiate IVs
- Monitor and document patient status using Epic EHR system
- Operate clinical equipment such as Welch Allyn vital sign towers, Sigma IV pumps, and BiPAP/CPAP
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services
- Float to other medical-surgical units as needed
- Participate in orientation and annual competency modules
