Travel Surgical First Assistant Job Details
- Assignment Type: Travel Contract – Operating Room (OR) Tech / CVOR Surgical First Assistant
- Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan (ZIP 49007) – Michigan healthcare jobs
- Start Date: February 23, 2026
- End Date: May 25, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day shifts, 4x10-hour (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
- Hours per Week: 40 (Guaranteed)
- Call Requirement: 12-18 days/month
- Weekend Requirement: 2-3 weekends per month
- Orientation: 8 hours
- Flu Vaccine: Required (medical exemptions accepted)
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2,490 - $2,670
Qualifications for CVOR Surgical First Assistant Jobs
- Active Michigan surgical technologist license
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience as a CVOR Surgical First Assistant or RNFA
- Proficient in endoscopic vein harvesting and cardiac surgical procedures
- Experience in Level I trauma center preferred
- BLS certification required
- Professional references required
- Ability to float to general department first assist coverage (including ortho, vascular, gyn, thoracic, and general surgeries)
- Previous travel healthcare experience strongly preferred
Key Responsibilities – Operating Room Tech / Surgical First Assistant
- Assist surgeons in cardiac, vascular, orthopedic, neuro, trauma, and general surgical procedures
- Perform endoscopic vein harvesting with proficiency
- Provide first assist support in the operating room (OR) across multiple specialties
- Participate in call rotation and weekend coverage as scheduled
- Float to other surgical specialties as needed for clinical support
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including phlebotomy, radiology, pharmacy, and transportation
- Utilize advanced surgical equipment such as XI robots and endovascular suites
- Maintain compliance with facility policies and required training modules
