Travel Nurse Job Details

• Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan (ZIP 49007)
• Assignment Length: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Start Date: February 23, 2026
• Shift: Day shifts, 4x10-hour (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM), 40 hours/week
• Call Requirement: 12-18 days/month
• Weekend Requirement: 2-3 weekends per month
• Unit: Surgery (20-5700), 21 operating rooms, daily census of 80-100 cases
• Orientation: 8 hours, plus annual modules

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan
• Minimum 1 year of recent Operating Room RN experience required
• CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) experience required
• Proficiency in endoscopic vein harvesting
• Experience in cardiac surgery (3s or 4s preferred)
• BLS certification required
• Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions accepted)
• References required
• Previous travel nurse experience and Level I trauma experience preferred

OR RN Responsibilities

• Assist in a variety of surgical procedures: cardiac, thoracic, orthopedic, vascular, gynecological, general, and pediatric surgeries
• Perform endoscopic vein harvesting with proficiency
• Provide general department First Assist coverage when cardiac cases are not scheduled
• Float to other surgical specialties as needed
• Participate in call rotation and weekend coverage as part of the surgical team
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including phlebotomy, radiology, pharmacy, and transportation
• Utilize advanced surgical technology, including XI robots and endovascular suites
