Position Details

General Information

  • Type of Facility: Level II Trauma Center
  • Total Beds: 411
  • Cardiac Unit Beds: 32 private rooms; Haskell 3 – 10 beds

Experience Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN): Minimum 1 year of experience; must have completed at least 1 travel assignment.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA): Minimum 1 year of experience; first-time travelers accepted with previous CNA experience on a unit with Tele patients.

Patient Types

  • Cardiac post-procedural patients requiring telemetry monitoring.
  • Conditions include CHF, angina, acute MI, NSTEMI, cardiac arrest, arrhythmias, and various cardiac procedures.

Patient Ratios

  • RN: 1:4-5 (days & nights)
  • CNA: 1:8-10 (days); 1:10 (nights)

Required Certifications

  • RN: BLS, ACLS
  • CNA: BLS, state CNA licensure

Skills Required

  • RN:
    • Cardiac Telemetry experience is mandatory.
    • Experience with chest tubes, temp pacemakers (preferred), and cardiac drips (Cardizem, amiodarone).
    • Ability to read and interpret rhythm strips.
  • CNA: Experience with telemetry monitoring.

Support on the Unit

  • PT/OT: Available approximately 8 AM - 4 PM
  • RT: Available 24 hours
  • Hospitalist: 24/7 in-house coverage
  • Cardiologist: On-call at night, present during the day

Charting System

  • Cerner

Orientation

  • Hospital orientation followed by 1 shift on the unit with a brief shadowing period. Travelers will be expected to take patients with preceptor support.

Scheduling

  • Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
  • On Call: No call required
  • Holiday Expectations: No holiday requests will be accepted
  • Time Off: Approval for up to 6 days; longer requests require additional approval

Additional Information

  • Scrub Color: Any professional color for both RN and CNA
  • Parking: Free parking available

Documentation Required

  • Various documents including BLS certification, criminal background check, immunization records, and more.
