Travel RNFA opportunity in Lansing, Michigan (48912) supporting high-acuity CVOR and cardiovascular surgery cases. Join a high-performing Cardiovascular Surgery (CV Surgery) Operating Room team as a Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) and collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia, perfusion, and perioperative staff across cardiac, thoracic, and vascular service lines.

• Schedule: Days, 4x10s (07:00–17:30)
• Shift Duration: 10-hour days
• Hours per Week: 40
• Weekend Rotation: 1 weekend every 4 weeks
• Call Requirements: 1 weekday night (Mon–Thu) every 4 weeks and 1 weekend of call per month
• Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
• Typical Volume: 4–5 OR cases/day

RNFA Job Requirements (CVOR / CV Surgery)

• Experience: Acute hospital operating room experience as an RN First Assist (RNFA) required; 1 year preferred (first-time travelers welcome)
• License: Active Michigan RN license by start date (compact license not accepted)
• Certification: CRNFA (required)
• Required Skills: endoscopic vein harvesting and radial artery harvesting
• EMR: Epic experience preferred (training provided during orientation)
• Education: Ability to provide proof of high school-level education (required)

Key Responsibilities (Operating Room / Perioperative Nursing)

• Provide RN First Assist support for cardiac, thoracic, and vascular procedures in the CVOR
• Perform and support vessel harvesting techniques including endoscopic vein harvesting and radial artery harvesting, as applicable
• Maintain sterile technique, anticipate surgeon needs, and support efficient case flow from setup through closure
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary perioperative team to promote safe, high-quality intraoperative patient care
• Participate in the assigned call rotation and respond to urgent/emergent surgical needs
• Document intraoperative care per facility standards (Epic preferred)
