- Division: Nursing – Operating Room (Main OR / General Surgery)
- Start Date: March 30, 2026
- End Date: June 29, 2026
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2130 - $2250
- Shift: Day shift, 3x12-hour (11:00 AM – 11:30 PM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- On-Call: 6 call shifts per 6-week schedule
- Weekend/Holiday: 1 weekend shift and/or 1 holiday per 6-week schedule
- Orientation: 24–28 hours
- Unit Snapshot: 21 OR rooms; ~60 cases/day; adult and geriatric surgical population
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years recent Operating Room RN experience required (first-time travel nurses welcome with required experience)
- License: Active Washington, DC RN license required by start date; pending DC license accepted at submission with proof of pending status
- Certifications: BCLS required; ACLS preferred
- Vaccination: Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- Clinical Skills: General OR workflows, circulating RN and scrub assistance, patient positioning, sterile technique, time-outs and counts, specimen handling, perioperative documentation
- Specialty Experience: Bariatrics, ENT, Neurology, Orthopedics, Urology; procedures include total joints, spine, craniotomy, microvascular free flaps, cytoreduction, bariatric, and OMFS/ENT cases
- Flexibility: Willingness to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
- References: Two (2) supervisor references required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care following OR standards and patient safety protocols
- Function primarily as a circulating RN in a busy Main OR supporting a varied surgical case mix
- Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesia, scrub techs, and ancillary teams to ensure room readiness and efficient case throughput
- Maintain sterile technique and compliance with time-outs, instrument counts, and accurate perioperative documentation
- Support complex surgical procedures including total joint replacement, spine surgery, craniotomy, microvascular free flaps, bariatric surgery, and ENT/OMF cases
- Participate in on-call coverage and float assignments within equivalent or lower acuity areas as operationally required
