• Position: Travel Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry (RN), Night Shift
• Location: Leonardtown, MD 20650 — St. Mary’s County | Southern Maryland nursing jobs
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (March 24, 2026 – June 23, 2026)
• Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts/week (19:00 – 07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,710 - $1,800 (travel nursing pay)
• Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts in 6 weeks
• Scheduling: Self-scheduling
• Unit: 44-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit; avg. daily census ~32; interdisciplinary support (Respiratory Therapy, PT, Pharmacy)

Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 2 years recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience required
• Licensure: Active Maryland RN license or Compact RN license valid for practice in Maryland
• Certifications: ACLS and BLS required
• Exam: Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam (min 80% overall; 100% on lethal rhythms)
• References: Two supervisor references required
• Vaccines: Flu vaccine required (no exemptions); COVID-19 vaccination not required
• Travel: First-time travel nurses welcome to apply

Responsibilities — Med/Surg Telemetry Nurse Duties

• Provide patient-centered, acute care for adult Med/Surg Telemetry patients (diabetes, CHF, COPD, infection/sepsis, post-surgical care: ortho, colorectal, vascular, bariatric)
• Continuous cardiac monitoring and accurate rhythm interpretation; escalate to rapid response / code teams when indicated
• Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and manage heparin protocols and PCA pumps
• Care for complex devices and therapies: central lines, PICCs, ports, tracheostomy care, chest tubes, surgical drains, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, wound VACs
• Perform complex wound care and post-op assessments; manage assigned patient ratios (typical 1:5)
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams and support safe patient transitions and discharges
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and promptly in the electronic health record
