- Position: Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) / Travel RN
- Location: Madison, WI 53715 (Madison, Wisconsin travel nursing)

- Shift: Night Shift (12-hour nights, 3 shifts per week)

- Estimated Weekly Pay Range: $1,860 – $1,960

Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state requirements apply; travel RN candidates should confirm Wisconsin licensing or Compact RN eligibility)
- BLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
- Minimum 2 years recent bedside clinical experience in a Med/Surg or acute care medical-surgical setting
- Strong clinical assessment, documentation (EMR), and communication skills
- Proven ability to supervise and delegate to LPNs, CNAs, and orientees
- Comfortable working independently on night shift and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, PT/OT, case management)
- Experience with patient-focused care, discharge planning, and patient/family education
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments within 8 hours of admission and develop individualized plans of care for inpatient Med/Surg patients
- Deliver direct patient care using the nursing process: assess, plan, implement, and evaluate
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record
- Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and interdisciplinary team conferences to support safe transitions of care
- Initiate discharge planning and provide effective patient and family education from admission through discharge
- Communicate changes in patient status to the care team to ensure continuity of care and patient safety
- Provide direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel and support staff
- Promote and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff by adhering to hospital safety policies and infection control practices
- Contribute to a positive, efficient team environment and participate in team-building activities
- May assume charge nurse responsibilities following orientation, as needed
