• Shift: Night Shift (12-hour nights, 3 shifts per week)

Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state requirements apply; travel RN candidates should confirm Wisconsin licensing or Compact RN eligibility)
• BLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
• Minimum 2 years recent bedside clinical experience in a Med/Surg or acute care medical-surgical setting
• Strong clinical assessment, documentation (EMR), and communication skills
• Proven ability to supervise and delegate to LPNs, CNAs, and orientees
• Comfortable working independently on night shift and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, PT/OT, case management)
• Experience with patient-focused care, discharge planning, and patient/family education

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments within 8 hours of admission and develop individualized plans of care for inpatient Med/Surg patients
• Deliver direct patient care using the nursing process: assess, plan, implement, and evaluate
• Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record
• Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and interdisciplinary team conferences to support safe transitions of care
• Initiate discharge planning and provide effective patient and family education from admission through discharge
• Communicate changes in patient status to the care team to ensure continuity of care and patient safety
• Provide direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel and support staff
• Promote and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff by adhering to hospital safety policies and infection control practices
• Contribute to a positive, efficient team environment and participate in team-building activities
• May assume charge nurse responsibilities following orientation, as needed
