Psychiatric RN Requirements

• Experience: 1+ year of behavioral health RN / psychiatric nursing experience
• License: Active Illinois RN license (must be in hand)
• Certifications Required: BLS (AHA)
• Preferred: CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) or equivalent de-escalation training
• Clinical Skills: Behavioral health workflows, crisis intervention, behavior management, psychotropic medication administration, and safety protocols
• Documentation: Charting system experience required; unit uses Epic
• Time Off (RTO): RTO Restrictions: 7 days max. RTO no more than 3 days and no RTO first or last week of contract.

Key Responsibilities (Behavioral Health / Psychiatry)

• Provide safe, patient-centered psychiatric RN care in a behavioral health setting
• Complete ongoing safety assessments and implement individualized care plans focused on stabilization
• Use evidence-based de-escalation strategies; follow facility policy for holds/restraints when clinically indicated
• Administer and monitor psychiatric medications and provide patient education aligned to the plan of care
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team and support services including Social Services, Pharmacy, Rapid Response Teams, Radiology, Phlebotomy, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Transportation, and the Unit Secretary to support patient care
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient response accurately and on time in Epic
• Support unit operations by floating as needed and maintaining a calm, professional presence during high-acuity events
