PCU Registered Nurse (RN) – Transplant/Renal/Nephrology in Charleston, SC (29425). 13-week travel nursing contract at a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated teaching hospital.   • Location: Charleston, SC 29425 — Charleston RN jobs / Charleston travel nursing
  • Position: PCU Registered Nurse (RN) – Transplant / Renal / Nephrology (Travel Nurse)
  • Unit: 6 East Transplant/Renal/Nephrology – 22-bed intermediate PCU / med-surg stepdown
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks (March 16, 2026 – June 15, 2026)
  • Shift: Days – 3 x 12-hour shifts per week (07:00 – 19:30); 36 hours/week
  • Weekend / Holiday: Every other weekend and holiday rotation required
  • Floating: Yes — float within scope to meet facility needs
  • Charting / EMR: Epic EMR (experience preferred)
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,570 – $1,650 (based on assignment details)
  • Scrub Color: Solid Royal Blue or White top with Royal Blue bottoms

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of recent PCU / stepdown RN experience required (MS/Tele or med-surg stepdown experience accepted)
  • Licensure: Active South Carolina RN license or Multi-State/Compact RN license (pending license considered with proof of application)
  • Certifications: American Heart Association (AHA) BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
  • Preferred: Previous charge nurse and/or Level I Trauma experience; transplant (liver/kidney/pancreas) clinical background
  • Clinical Skills: MS/Tele monitoring, transplant postop care, continuous bladder irrigation, pre/post hemodialysis management, arterial/PICC/central line care, wound care/wound vac, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV insulin protocols, blood product administration, phlebotomy, isolation/PPE, computerized documentation in Epic
  • Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics — pre- and post-operative transplant, nephrology, urology, and med-surg overflow
  • Who Should Apply: PCU RN, Transplant RN, Renal RN, Nephrology RN, stepdown nurses, travel nurses, and first-time travel RNs

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a busy transplant/renal PCU unit
  • Manage pre- and post-operative transplant patients and complex renal/urology needs, including dialysis-related care
  • Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, titrate drips per protocol, and participate in rapid response/code situations
  • Administer blood products, perform phlebotomy, and manage central/arterial/PICC lines
  • Provide wound care and wound vac management as required
  • Document all patient care accurately and efficiently in Epic EMR
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (transplant surgeons, nephrology, pharmacy, case management) to optimize patient outcomes
  • Float within scope to support facility and unit needs and participate in ongoing transplant-specific education
