Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) – DMCC - LTAC Med Surg

Location: Peoria, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Details

• Unit: MedSurg
• Beds: 10
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5
• Patient Types: Respiratory failure, post-surgical, wound care, IV antibiotics, post-CVA, post-trauma, cardiac patients
• Common Skills Required: PEG tube care/feedings, CVC/PICC/Midline care, tracheostomy care
• RN Responsibilities: Titrate drips (e.g., Heparin), troubleshoot respiratory equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow)
• Respiratory Therapy: RT manages all respiratory equipment
• Telemetry: Monitored by techs in ICU; RNs read their own strips
• Charge Nurse: House Supervisor available 24/7 (charge nurse does not take assignment)
• Nurse Aids/Techs: Yes, ratio 1:10

Schedule & Orientation

• Shift Length: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend and to fill holes
• Holiday Requirement: Holiday rotation and to fill holes
• Call/Standby: None currently, but subject to change
• Orientation: 12 hours classroom + 2 shifts unit-specific with preceptor
• Scrubs: Only OSF-approved t-shirts allowed; scrubs provided

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Minimum 1 year of Long Term Acute Care (LTAC) experience within the last year
• BLS issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience in MedSurg nursing including PEG tube care and feedings, CVC/PICC/Midline usage and care, and tracheostomy patient care

Additional Notes

• Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius
• Drug-free campus: Negative drug screen required
• Qualified MedSurg nurses may float to ICU and Acute Rehab as needed

This position is ideal for experienced MedSurg RNs comfortable with complex patient care and respiratory equipment management in a LTAC setting.
