Job Details

  • Position: Travel Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) – Travel Contract (perinatal / obstetric nurse)
  • Location: Martinsburg, WV 25401 — Eastern Panhandle, West Virginia nursing jobs
  • Setting: Birthing Center / Mother Baby Unit (Acute Care) — Baby?Friendly hospital
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Start Date: March 7, 2026
  • End Date: June 6, 2026
  • Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) — night shift, 12-hour night RN
  • Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed
  • Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and holiday participation required
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,290–$2,410
  • Orientation: 1 onboarding shift + 1 12-hour precepted shift
  • Charting / Systems: Epic (EMR) and Centricity FHM (fetal monitoring)

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Active RN license (West Virginia or compact privilege eligible; willing to wait for WV license if needed)
  • Minimum 1 year recent Labor & Delivery or Mother Baby experience (2 years L&D preferred) — perinatal nursing experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • C-section experience required — able to circulate and recover during operative deliveries
  • Ability to cross-cover between L&D and Mother Baby units and float as needed
  • Strong communication, patient education, breastfeeding support, and newborn care teaching skills
  • Experience with Epic EMR and Centricity FHM preferred
  • First-time travel nurses and experienced travel L&D RNs welcome — travel nursing jobs in West Virginia

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence-based perinatal and obstetric nursing care to laboring and postpartum patients in a 6-bed L&D suite and 11-bed postpartum unit
  • Circulate and recover C-sections; manage routine and high-risk deliveries with clinical competence
  • Support unscheduled OB visits in the OB Emergency Department (4-bed unit) and respond to emergent perinatal needs
  • Perform fetal monitoring using Centricity FHM and document assessments in Epic accurately and timely
  • Collaborate closely with in-house OB hospitalists, neonatology support, lactation consultants, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Educate patients and families on newborn care, safe sleep, breastfeeding, postpartum recovery, and Baby?Friendly practices
  • Maintain compliance with unit policies, Baby?Friendly Hospital Initiative, and Safe Sleep standards
  • Float between L&D and Mother Baby units as needed to support staffing and patient care
