- Unit: Telemetry (MS/Tele - 8AB) (36-bed unit)
- Patient Population: Adult & geriatric; medical/telemetry acuity with higher-than-average cardiac population (chest pain rule-outs, CHF exacerbations, pre/post cardiac cath) and alcohol detox patients
- Equipment: Alaris pumps, Hercules beds
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
Registered Nurse (RN) Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of RN experience required; 6 months RN experience in an acute care hospital setting (preferred)
- License: Active RN license in the state of practice or compact RN license (as applicable)
- Certifications: AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIH required
- Telemetry Competency: Dysrhythmia exam required (study guide available)
- Cardiac Skills: Pre/post cardiac cath experience; ability to titrate drips preferred
- EHR: EPIC experience/training preferred
Key Responsibilities (Telemetry RN – Nights)
- Perform initial and ongoing assessments, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate patient outcomes
- Provide safe medication administration and continuous telemetry monitoring with prompt recognition and escalation of rhythm changes
- Manage and titrate common cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Nitro, and Heparin (no pressors)
- Care for pre/post cardiac cath patients, including monitoring for complications and coordinating follow-up care
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and coordinate care across departments to support safe transitions and discharges
- Provide patient and family education on disease process, medications, and post-procedure instructions
- Maintain patient safety and infection prevention practices, including universal precautions and appropriate PPE use
- Provide care for patients with common lines/drains/devices (e.g., ports, PICCs, occasional JP drains; stable chest tubes may be seen)
