Job Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 18 months recent, permanent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience in acute care (cardiac telemetry, acute medical-surgical)
- License: Active Ohio RN license or Compact RN license (must be in hand at submission) — Ohio nursing jobs requirement
- Certifications: AHA BLS and AHA ACLS (active; no pending certifications)
- Reference: One current/previous manager-level reference (manager, ANM, supervisor, or director) in Med/Surg Telemetry
- Clinical Competency: Ability to pass ECG rhythm recognition and safeMedicate during orientation (maximum 2 attempts) — strong ECG interpretation and cardiac monitor skills required
- Health Requirements: COVID-19 vaccination required (medical or religious exemptions accepted); Influenza vaccination required (medical or religious exemptions accepted)
- Nicotine Policy: Nurses and CSTs temporarily exempt from nicotine-free requirements; all others must provide a negative nicotine screen
- Background: No open background cases or license hits accepted
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit during night shifts (telemetry monitoring, cardiac observation)
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms, interpret ECG strips, and escalate changes in patient condition per hospital protocol
- Administer medications and treatments per provider orders, hospital policies, and safe medication administration practices
- Perform focused assessments, update individualized care plans, and complete timely, accurate documentation (EMR charting)
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams — physicians, respiratory therapists, case managers, and ancillary staff — to coordinate safe, efficient patient care
- Promote patient safety, infection prevention practices, and adherence to unit protocols and quality standards
