Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Location: Washington, DC 20007 (DC nursing jobs)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (travel nursing contract)
• Start Date: April 6, 2026
• End Date: July 6, 2026
• Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (19:00 - 07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Healthcare Setting: Cardiac Stepdown / IMC (ED Boarder Unit)
• Patient Population: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Float Requirement: Float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
• Scrubs: Any color
• Parking: Available (cost applies)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,730 - $1,820 per week

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Cardiac Stepdown or IMC experience
• At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment required
• Active DC RN license (pending accepted with proof at submission; must be in hand before start)
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (required for cardiac nursing jobs)
• Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam (minimum 80% overall, 100% on lethal rhythms)
• Experience with Cerner charting system
• Willingness to care for COVID-19 patients
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• Two supervisor references required

Cardiac Stepdown Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients in the ED Boarder/IMC unit awaiting inpatient placement
• Monitor and manage cardiac and telemetry patients, including dysrhythmia interpretation
• Administer IV therapies, insulin drips, heparin protocols, and manage feeding tubes
• Care for patients with renal failure, including pre/post hemodialysis management
• Perform phlebotomy, start and maintain IVs, and manage central/PICC lines
• Implement isolation precautions and infection control measures
• Document patient care using Cerner EMR
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (PT, RT, pharmacy, social services)
• Float to similar or lower acuity units as needed
