PCU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Columbus, Ohio (43210) – Ohio nursing jobs
• Assignment Length: 16 weeks (April 6, 2026 – July 27, 2026)
• Healthcare Setting: Corrections Health Unit – PCU & Medical-Surgical
• Nursing Shift: 12-hour nights (19:00 – 07:30), 3 shifts/week (36 hours/week)
• Start Date: April 6, 2026
• Orientation: 24 hours

Compensation

• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1940-$2040/week

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – compact or Ohio state license required
• Minimum 1 year of recent PCU, Medical-Surgical, or Telemetry nursing experience
• EPIC charting system experience (required)
• BLS certification (required); ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Ability to float between PCU and MS units
• Two professional references (one from a manager/director or supervisor)
• Ohio fingerprinting required upon contract signing
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care to diverse populations, including oncology, surgical, and complex medical cases
• Float between Progressive Care Unit and Medical-Surgical units as needed
• Maintain safety and security in a locked corrections health environment, collaborating with Corrections Officers
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, manage dysrhythmias, and perform telemetry monitoring
• Administer IV therapies, blood products, and manage central/peripheral lines
• Care for patients requiring respiratory support (CPAP/BIPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy management)
• Implement insulin protocols, feeding tube care, and pre/post hemodialysis management
• Document care using EPIC and administer medications via Pyxis
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (pharmacy, physical therapy, respiratory, radiology, social services)
• Participate in rapid response and code teams
