Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years recent PCU, stepdown, or progressive care experience (cardiac/telemetry experience strongly preferred)
  • Active RN license (compact RN license accepted or Ohio RN license required at submission)
  • Graduate of an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • EPIC charting experience required (EPIC EMR)
  • Clinical skills: IV starts, telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, peripheral line care, oxygen therapy, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions/PPE
  • Familiarity with cardiac protocols and IV insulin/GTT preferred
  • Two professional references required (at least one from a manager/director or formal leader)
  • Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to adult patients in a progressive care / cardiac stepdown (PCU) environment.
  • Monitor and manage patients with cardiac diagnoses (chest pain, heart failure, EKG changes, pulmonary embolism) using cardiac telemetry.
  • Start and maintain IVs, administer medications, and manage peripheral and central access appropriately.
  • Interpret dysrhythmias and respond to clinical changes; participate on rapid response and code teams as needed.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, and IV teams to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Float to other units of equivalent or lower acuity per unit needs.
  • Accurately document assessments and care in EPIC; adhere to infection control, isolation protocols, and unit policies.
