Job Details — Cardiac Stepdown RN / Travel Nurse
- Location: Springfield, IL 62769 (Springfield cardiac nursing jobs; Illinois travel nursing)
- Assignment Type: Travel (Travel Nurse / Travel Registered Nurse)
- Start Date: March 16, 2026
- End Date: June 14, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,500–$2,630/week
- Shift: 8-hour days, Monday–Friday (6:30 AM – 3:00 PM); 5 shifts per week, each shift is 8 hours
- Call: Approximately once a week and every 3rd or 4th weekend (on-call rotation required)
- Hours per Week: 40
- Position Focus: Cardiac stepdown, post-operative cardiac care, support for cardiovascular surgery (CVOR) patients
Job Requirements — Registered Nurse (RN)
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois (required)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from an accredited organization (required)
- Minimum 2 years of recent CVOR, cardiac surgery, or cardiac stepdown nursing experience
- Experience with post-operative cardiac care and hemodynamic monitoring preferred
- Willingness and ability to participate in on-call rotation
- Must not reside within 50 miles of the facility (travel nurse eligibility requirement)
- Time-off requests must be submitted at the time of application
Responsibilities — Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse
- Provide direct patient care for cardiac stepdown and post-surgical cardiac patients
- Monitor, assess, and document patient status, vital signs, and cardiac/hemodynamic data
- Collaborate with CVOR teams, cardiac surgeons, intensivists, and multidisciplinary staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Assist with cardiac surgery procedures and provide post-op handoff and continuity of care
- Respond to emergencies, participate in rapid response and on-call coverage as required
- Provide patient and family education on post-operative recovery, medications, and discharge planning
- Maintain accurate electronic medical record (EMR) documentation and follow hospital protocols for cardiac nursing
