Job Details
- Location: Rapid City, SD 57701 (South Dakota travel nursing / SD nursing jobs)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (March 23, 2026 – June 22, 2026)
- Role: Travel Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) / OR Circulator
- Setting: Acute Care Hospital – 11 OR suites and 1 GI suite
- Schedule: 10-hour day shifts with call
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2,600–$2,730/week
- Charting System: EPIC (electronic health record)
- Scrubs: Provided (Ceil Blue)
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Minimum 3 years recent Operating Room circulator experience (3–4 years preferred)
- Strong orthopedic OR experience required — total joints, arthroscopy, and perioperative ortho care
- Robotics experience highly preferred (MAKO experience a plus)
- Current South Dakota RN license or compact state RN license accepted
- Active BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA required)
- Procedure experience: ortho (total joints, MAKO, arthroscopy), spine, foot & ankle, hand, ORIF; exposure to general surgery, ENT, GYN, and plastics is beneficial
- Strong skills in sterile technique, instrumentation, surgical counts, and perioperative patient safety
Responsibilities
- Circulate in the operating room primarily supporting orthopedic procedures and assist the surgical team as OR circulator
- Support total joint arthroplasty, arthroscopy, spine, foot & ankle, hand, and ORIF cases
- Assist with select general surgery, ENT, GYN, and plastic cases as needed
- Utilize advanced equipment including MAKO robotics and other surgical technologies
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, surgical techs, and perioperative staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in EPIC and adhere to hospital policies (badging, dress code)
- Promote patient safety, infection control, and quality perioperative care throughout all phases of surgery
