Job Summary

The Registered Nurse will assess patients' psychological and spiritual needs, contribute to individualized patient care, coordinate the plan of care with the physician and healthcare team, implement the plan of patient care, and evaluate the outcomes, providing quality care for patients of all age groups.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
• Successful completion of Pharmacological Examination.
• Minimum of one year of recent experience in the clinical area for the position.
• Proof of CPR participation and ACLS certification.
• Demonstrates knowledge and ability to use recognized channels of communication and understands the English language.
• Knowledgeable of new trends and developments in the field of nursing.
• Ability to respond to on-the-job training.

Typical Physical Requirements

• Ability to ascend and descend stairs to retrieve patient care supplies and respond to emergencies.
• Capacity to work rapidly under pressure for up to 4 hours without a break.
• Ability to hear and accurately repeat verbal communication.
• Good vision with or without corrective lenses.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Manual dexterity to operate department equipment and write legibly.
• Ability to frequently lift, turn, or push adult patients weighing up to 250 pounds; occasionally up to 400 pounds.
• Willingness to come in contact with body fluids, secretions, and tissue, with proper protective items.
• Ability to walk, stoop, kneel, or stand for varying lengths of time depending on patient procedures.

Working Conditions

• Majority of time spent inside, on the nursing unit or specific department.
• Ability to manage multiple activities occurring simultaneously and respond to urgent work requests.

Additional Information

• Candidates should disclose any required time off.
• Must have a current Illinois RN license.
• BLS and ACLS certifications are required; experience should be listed in comments.
• Candidates should indicate their current shift and whether they are a 1099 employee.
• Ability to float to Medical-Surgical units to assist with tasks is preferred.
• Candidates must understand that OSF is a Drug-Free Campus and must produce a negative drug screen for all panels.
