Job Details

• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (March 16, 2026 – June 15, 2026)
• Location: Bloomington, IL (zip code 61701) — Travel nurse opportunity in Central Illinois
• Setting: Inpatient Acute, Cardiac Stepdown Unit (32 private beds) — telemetry/step-down nursing
• Shift: 12-hour nights, 3 shifts per week (rotating weekends & holidays)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2130–$2250 per week
• Charting System: EPIC (electronic health record experience preferred)
• Dress Code: Scrubs, any color

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois or compact state (travel RN applicants welcome)
• Minimum 1 year recent clinical experience in stepdown, intermediate care, or acute care telemetry unit
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Strong telemetry interpretation skills and ability to read telemetries
• Experience managing chest tubes, lines and tubes (PICC, central lines, NG tubes, etc.)
• Comfortable caring for patients with COPD, CHF, Diabetes, sepsis, renal failure, DKA, alcohol withdrawal, overdoses, pneumonia, respiratory conditions, and post-op neuro/surgical/cardiac patients
• Willingness to float to ICU (if experienced) or to general medical floors as needed

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive cardiac stepdown nursing care to telemetry and intermediate acuity patients
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, identify arrhythmias, and respond per unit protocols
• Manage chest tubes and various vascular and enteric access devices safely and effectively
• Administer medications and treatments using the Pyxis medication dispensing system
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in EPIC
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, respiratory therapy, case management) to optimize patient outcomes
• Participate in orientation, ongoing training, and quality improvement initiatives
• Adapt to changing patient acuity and float to other units as required
