Assignment Type: Travel Contract (travel nurse / travel nursing job)
Start Date: March 23, 2026 (Orientation every other Monday)
End Date: June 20, 2026
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour day shifts
Average Hours Per Week: 36
Weekend Requirement: 2-3 weekends per month, based on unit need
Estimated Weekly Pay: $1800-$1890

Key Qualifications

Minimum 2 years recent experience as a Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (Med/Surg RN)
Prior travel nursing experience required
Active Virginia RN license or Compact RN license required at time of submission
BLS required; ACLS preferred
Teaching hospital experience, precepting, or charge experience preferred
All requested time off must be submitted at time of application
Ability to collaborate with students, new hires, and multidisciplinary teams in a teaching hospital setting

Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult patients on a busy surgical Med/Surg unit
Provide mentorship and clinical support to students and new hires as part of a teaching hospital team
May assume charge nurse responsibilities (with appropriate training and pay differential)
Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, and ancillary staff to optimize patient outcomes
Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and best practices for surgical and medical-surgical care
Participate in orientation and ongoing training as required
