Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse

Location: Jacksonville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work schedule: 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Weekend shifts required
  • No call responsibilities
  • Must be willing to float as needed
  • Block scheduling requests cannot be accommodated
  • No local candidates within a 50-mile radius

Unit Details:

  • 10-bed unit
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio varies from 1:1 to 1:4 depending on labor stage
  • Provide direct care to obstetrical patients including assessment, medication administration, carrying out provider orders, documentation, and communication with the care team
  • Adhere to hospital policies and accreditation standards

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery nursing experience within the last year
  • Current certifications (must be valid prior to start):
    • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
    • STABLE certification

Additional Requirements and Information

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
  • Must complete various background checks including 7-year criminal history and education verification
  • Required health documents include:
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Immunizations/vaccinations including Tdap, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu (seasonal requirements apply)
    • Negative drug screen within required timeframe
    • COVID vaccination proof or declination form if unvaccinated
  • Facility-specific documents and attestations must be signed and completed prior to start
  • Orientation includes completion of LMS modules and possible on-site training for certain certifications (e.g., NCI for ER RNs)
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season with medical or religious exemptions subject to approval
  • Must be willing to comply with all facility policies including confidentiality, code of conduct, and communication standards

This is a travel nursing contract for a Labor and Delivery RN position requiring night shifts and weekend work in a 10-bed obstetrical unit.
