Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele) - Travel/Contract

Location: Salina, Kansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM
Weekends: Every other weekend required
Unit: 38-bed unit including Nephrology, Oncology, General Medical, and Dialysis

Job Requirements

• Valid RN license in Kansas
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, including experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• IV therapy and phlebotomy experience
• Medication administration experience
• Experience with isolation precautions
• Wound care and Wound Vac experience
• Experience with MEDITECH EMR system

Skills and Clinical Competencies

• Telemetry monitoring (unit and remote)
• Gastrointestinal, Genitourinary/Renal care
• IV therapy and phlebotomy (starting IVs)
• Medication administration including Heparin, Insulin, PCA
• Neurological care (CVA, Substance Withdrawal)
• Plastics (Surgical Drains)
• Respiratory care (Chest tubes, Emerson/Pleur-evac, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, Oral Suctioning, Tracheostomy Management)
• Isolation Precautions
• Wound Care and Wound Vac management

Facility and Job Specifics

• Uniform: Navy Blue scrubs
• First-time travelers: Not accepted
• Mileage: 100-mile radius rule applies; mileage reviewed case-by-case
• Unit Type: Med-Surg/Telemetry with specialty in nephrology, oncology, dialysis, and general medical patients

Required Documentation and Compliance

• Proof of I9 or Attestation
• Government-issued photo ID
• E-Verify proof or Attestation
• 7-year criminal background check (must be current within 1 year)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
• Education verification (highest degree)
• Physical exam within 60 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or ARNP confirming ability to perform essential job functions
• N95 Fit Test within 12 months (can be completed onsite at orientation if needed)
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) positive titers or vaccine series
  • Hepatitis B positive titer, vaccine series, or declination form
  • Varicella positive titer or vaccine series
  • Flu vaccine or declination during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccine or declination accepted
• Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen including marijuana within 60 days of start (SAMHSA certified, reviewed by MRO)
• References: 2 professional references within 2 years required for travel positions
• Completion of facility-specific Healthstream modules prior to start (approx. 8 hours)
• Photo for badge required

Additional Notes

• Prior employees of this facility will not be considered
• Performance evaluations required if previously worked with the facility over 1 year
• Floating may be required to ED or ICU to care for floor patients
• Must comply with all facility-required competencies and exams

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with Meditech EMR proficiency and prior travel contract experience seeking a 13-week travel assignment on a Med-Surg/Telemetry unit with a night shift schedule.
