Location: Salina, Kansas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

Job Description

• Must have experience with Meditech EMR (no exceptions).
• Facility applies a 100-mile radius rule for mileage approval.
• First-time travelers will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Unit & Work Setting Requirements

• Work settings include antepartum, facility birth (<100 and 100-200 births), high-risk antepartum, labor & delivery, and mother-baby units.
• Unit scrub provided.

Clinical Skills Required

• Assist with sterile speculum exam, NST, OCT, reflex checks, sterile vaginal exam, tele interpretation.
• Use of internal/external fetal monitoring, IVs, medication administration.
• Labor & Delivery management including high-risk delivery, forceps/vacuum, C-sections, neonatal care, newborn care, postpartum care, and surgical cases.

Preferred Skills

• LDRP experience, assisting with amniocentesis, spiral electrode placement, use of IUPC.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Kansas
• Labor and Delivery experience with a minimum of 1.5 years, including experience within the last year
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring experience
• AWHONN Intermediate FHM certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience assisting with NST (Non-Stress Test) and OCT (Oxytocin Challenge Test)
• Experience with tele interpretation
• Experience with C-sections
• Experience with MEDITECH EMR system

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Proof of I9 or attestation.
• Government-issued photo ID required during hours of service.
• E-Verify proof or attestation.
• Background check: 7-year criminal check within a year of start, updated annually, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals.
• Education verification or transcript/diploma required.
• Nursys verification required for RN license.
• Physical exam within 60 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or ARNP confirming ability to perform essential job functions.
• N95 Fit Test within 12 months of start (can be completed onsite during orientation if needed).
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tdap (current within 10 years, required for Birth Center/NICU staff)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2-dose vaccine series)
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer, completed vaccine series, or declination form)
  • Varicella (positive titer or 2-dose vaccine series)
• Drug screening: 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 60 days of start (SAMHSA certified, reviewed by MRO).
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31).
• COVID-19 vaccination or declination accepted.

Additional Requirements

• Completion of facility-specific healthstream modules (~8 hours) prior to start.
• Photo for badge required.
• References: 2 professional references within 2 years required for travel positions.
• Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable, updated annually.

This position is ideal for a Labor and Delivery nurse with Meditech experience seeking a 13-week travel contract with night shifts and every other weekend coverage in Kansas.
