Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; at least 1 year in a cardiac stepdown, telemetry, or intermediate care unit
- Recent experience (within the last year) in a large Level I trauma facility
- Cardiothoracic and vascular experience required; post-op Day 1 open/closed heart experience required
- Solid cardiac experience and telemetry monitoring skills
- Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years (non-negotiable)
- Current AHA BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS certification required prior to start
- PCCN certification preferred (cardiac/critical care certification is a plus)
- Willingness to float to similar units (surgical/telemetry/PCU) as needed
- Reliable transportation required (public transportation not accessible to this facility)
- All employment gaps over 90 days must be explained; complete work history required for submission
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care for cardiac and post-op surgical patients on the Cardiac Progressive Care Stepdown unit
- Monitor and manage telemetry, hemodynamics, and post-op Day 1 open/closed heart patients
- Document and coordinate care using Epic EMR for accurate charting and interdisciplinary communication
- Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, vascular teams, intensivists, and multidisciplinary staff to optimize patient outcomes
- Float to related units (telemetry, surgical PCU) to support patient care and staffing needs
- Participate in bi-weekly orientation and ongoing professional development as a travel nurse
- Maintain compliance with facility policies, regulatory standards, and cardiac/critical care protocols
