Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; at least 1 year in a cardiac stepdown, telemetry, or intermediate care unit
• Recent experience (within the last year) in a large Level I trauma facility
• Cardiothoracic and vascular experience required; post-op Day 1 open/closed heart experience required
• Solid cardiac experience and telemetry monitoring skills
• Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years (non-negotiable)
• Current AHA BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS certification required prior to start
• PCCN certification preferred (cardiac/critical care certification is a plus)
• Willingness to float to similar units (surgical/telemetry/PCU) as needed
• Reliable transportation required (public transportation not accessible to this facility)
• All employment gaps over 90 days must be explained; complete work history required for submission

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care for cardiac and post-op surgical patients on the Cardiac Progressive Care Stepdown unit
• Monitor and manage telemetry, hemodynamics, and post-op Day 1 open/closed heart patients
• Document and coordinate care using Epic EMR for accurate charting and interdisciplinary communication
• Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, vascular teams, intensivists, and multidisciplinary staff to optimize patient outcomes
• Float to related units (telemetry, surgical PCU) to support patient care and staffing needs
• Participate in bi-weekly orientation and ongoing professional development as a travel nurse
• Maintain compliance with facility policies, regulatory standards, and cardiac/critical care protocols
