Job Details
- Location: Washington, DC 20007 (Washington, DC nursing jobs / DC healthcare)
- Setting: Cardiac Stepdown / ED Boarder Unit (telemetry / intermediate care)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 20, 2026 – July 20, 2026)
- Shift: Night shift – 3 x 12-hour shifts per week (19:00 – 07:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Patient Ratio: 1:4–5 (telemetry/stepdown nursing ratio)
- Employment Type: Travel Contract (travel nurse / travel RN)
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,730 - $1,820 per week
- COVID-19 Vaccine: Not required
- Flu Vaccine: Required (no exemptions)
- Scrubs: Any color
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent Cardiac Stepdown, Telemetry, or IMC RN experience
- At least 1 prior travel assignment (preferred travel nurse experience)
- Active DC RN license (pending license accepted with proof; license must be in hand prior to start)
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Successful completion of Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam (minimum 80% overall; 100% on lethal rhythms)
- Experience with Cerner electronic charting system and Pyxis medication systems
- Ability to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
- Two supervisor references required
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care to admitted patients boarding in the ED while awaiting inpatient beds
- Continuous cardiac telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition/management (telemetry nurse responsibilities)
- Administer and titrate IV drips (including insulin), manage enteral feeding tubes, and provide pre/post hemodialysis care
- Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and manage peripheral and central lines
- Implement isolation precautions and PPE protocols for infection control
- Utilize Cerner for charting and Pyxis for medication administration with accurate documentation
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams: Physical Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Radiology, Social Services, and Pharmacy
- Float to other units as required and actively participate on rapid response/code teams
- Care for diverse diagnoses including neurology/stroke, orthopedics, oncology, transplant, end-stage liver/kidney disease, and gastroenterology
